She'll Be Right, Mate: Tools that Shaped the New England
Every country museum has colonial tools on display. Some have acres of them. Conservative elements in our Society insisted McCrossin’s Mill do the same, and won the argument by sheer force of numbers.
“OK. Have it your way”, said curator Kent Mayo petulantly. (Well, they’d already had their way).
“But let’s give it a flavour shall we?” he said.
“What do you mean?”
“You’ll see” was all he said.
The exhibition comprises all the usual suspects…mauls, cross-cut saws, pit saws, blacksmith’s forge, etc and some most unusual pieces on loan from local families and Kent’s own zany collection. What’s more, the text is spiced with wickedly sardonic humour, which takes viewers very pleasantly by surprise!
